From the Padthaway region of South Australia’s Limestone Coast comes this very approachable red which would be perfect for a summer BBQ.
This is a wine that doesn’t take itself too seriously – full bodied, rich and supple (be warned at 14.5% ABV this wine is anything but subtle!). Offering an abundance of juicy fruit on the nose and palate: plum, raspberry, black cherry alongside oodles of smoky black pepper that gives a spicy edge to the decadence of the liquorice and chocolate notes on the palate. The tannin is soft and ripe giving the wine body without astringency. It’s not overly complex, but for £7.99 (down from £10.99 at Waitrose until 29th August) you can’t go too far wrong if you’re looking for an easy drinker in this price range.
