Juvé & Camps Reserva De La Familia Cava

Still looking for the perfect sparkler to see in the New Year and don’t want to spend the earth?  If so, you definitely want to consider this lovely Cava.

Made by the same Traditional method as Champagne but using predominantly Spanish grape varieties (Xarel-Lo, Parellada and Macabeo), this sparkler is made in a ‘Brut Nature’ style – effectively meaning no dosage (sugar) is added post disgorgement,  but if you are imagining this could be too dry then don’t worry, for this wine has an appealing richness about it that makes it surprisingly easy drinking.

What does it taste of?  Ripe peach, apple and a streak of lemony citrus coupled with lovely rich honeyed notes and more than a hint of buttered toast from time spent on the lees.

With its creamy mousse, balanced acidity and long complex finish this has quality stamped all over it. I opened a bottle over Christmas and thought it was tremendous value compared to what you would pay for Champagne of equal quality.

Hey if it’s good enough to be served to the Spanish Royal Family, it’s certainly good enough for me!

Available at Majestic for £15.99 (£13.99 as part of a mix 6)
